Clarkson University awarded the $7.1M Educational Resource Center (ERC) Renovations & Addition to Northern Tier Contracting Inc. NTC partnered with the Project Management staff at Clarkson University, the Architects at MacLachan, Cornelius & Filoni, Inc., as well as 17 subcontractors to complete this project. The scope of the project was to completely renovate the ERC, the literal Hub of the University and is at the heart of the University’s academic community on its Potsdam campus.
When visiting the ERC, one will immediately see the modern exterior. NTC worked with our subcontractor to install Pearlescent Micas metal panels that change colors with light exposure, Inside the ERC, there is state of the art technology. Markerspaces are equipped with the latest SMART tools, televisions and video technology. On the second floor, there is a display of six large high definition digital panels which rotate campus photos, announcements and University news. The project also included updating and building the underlying communications systems that support these high-tech devices.
The ERC showcases sleek and modern casework and wood throughout. The walls are lined with reclaimed planks, barn wood and tongue and groove panels. The ceiling has specialized “T” metal rails with linear wood panels harvested from well managed forests. One of the most unique facets of this project was building the large wooden circle that serves as an initial sound barrier over the first-floor welcome desk. One other feature to the space is a new café. The café features wooden casework with a scrolled design, a reclaimed wood ceiling and all new appliances.
